BSFZ Confirms Its Expertise in Research and Innovation for AI Applications in the SAP Environment

 

Milliarum has been awarded the federal research grant for 2026 and 2027 and is therefore eligible to recognize its innovative achievements with the BSFZ seal. The seal is issued exclusively by the Research Allowance Certification Office (BSFZ) and confirms that Milliarum has demonstrably engaged in research and development as defined by the Research Tax Credit Act. This officially ranks Milliarum among Germany’s most innovative technology companies.

The funded research activities focus on the further development of Milliarum’s AI-powered solutions for SAP systems. The Milliarum solution enables secure, controlled, and highly efficient interaction with SAP data, regardless of whether it originates from on-premises, cloud, or hybrid SAP environments. This is made possible by the AI Construction Kit developed by Milliarum, which includes an SAP-integrated chatbot and is deliberately not tied to a specific large language model (LLM). Instead, virtually all commercially available LLMs can be integrated.

„The BSFZ seal is a special honor for us,“ says Dirk Ott, CEO of Milliarum. „It confirms the novelty of our AI solutions and recognizes our ongoing innovation efforts as a medium-sized company.“ A key differentiator of the solution is its controlled access to SAP data. While many generic AI chatbots are prone to hallucinations or leave questions of data sovereignty unresolved, the Milliarum solution accesses only reliable SAP data. An integrated SAP connector ensures that all queries are strictly based on existing SAP permissions. This allows companies to retain full control over their sensitive data at all times.

„We don’t develop our own language model; instead, we build the technological infrastructure that enables our customers to use the right LLM and the appropriate user interface for their specific use cases,“ explains Ott. „This allows them to remain independent of individual providers and to flexibly manage data protection and cost considerations.“ For users, this means, above all, a significant gain in efficiency. With the help of predefined prompts and intelligent evaluation logic, questions from areas such as materials management or time tracking can be answered directly via chatbot. Analyses and recommendations for action that used to take several days are now available within minutes.

Milliarum is using the research grant specifically to further develop the solution, particularly for complex cloud and hybrid scenarios, new AI-powered use cases, and the secure integration of external platforms. „This funding will enable us to take our product development to a new professional level and deliver market-ready innovations more quickly,“ said Ott.
