Successful Project Management with CCPM in SAP

Milliarum in e3 Magazine
How can complex projects in SAP be planned with greater transparency, managed more reliably, and completed on schedule? e3 Magazine also addresses this question in its latest issue: Our case study highlights the use of Critical Chain Project Management (CCPM) at KOCH Pac-Systeme.
When it comes to complex, resource-intensive customer orders, traditional project management methods reach their limits. This often results in missed delivery deadlines, resource conflicts, and project delays that quickly exceed the approved budget.
That is why many companies for which on-time delivery, short lead times, and capacity management are critical to success rely on Critical Chain Project Management (CCPM). Through the use of buffers and focused control, CCPM ensures that projects are completed more reliably within the specified timeframe.
The CCPM functions and visualization features of the CCPM method are not included in the standard scope of traditional SAP modules, such as the SAP Project System. For this reason, packaging machine manufacturer KOCH Pac-Systeme decided, as part of its transition to SAP, to implement Milliarum add-ons that map CCPM within SAP. The goal is to systematically address typical challenges in project management, such as resource conflicts, schedule uncertainties, or a lack of transparency regarding critical dependencies.
This case study demonstrates how KOCH Pac systems, through the CCPM approach:
- makes it easier to plan project timelines
- Bottlenecks identified early on
- Manages resources in a more targeted manner
- and achieved greater on-time delivery in projects.
The full article in the current March issue of e3 Magazine offers fascinating insights into our project and the practical application of the CCPM approach.
