Until now, the intelligence of AI consisted of providing answers in the chatbot based on statistical probabilities. The special thing about the new reasoning models is that chat histories are no longer based solely on patterns in data, but are the result of multi-level thinking, logical conclusions, planning and problem solving as well as reflection and error correction.
AI now thinks for itself: It can analyze intermediate steps and solve complex problems in a structured way. Facts can be analyzed, cause-and-effect relationships identified and conclusions drawn that do not emerge directly from the data. In addition, new reasoning models can create a kind of "mental map" to systematically find the best solution. They can evaluate their own answers and even correct themselves - AI is growing up.
